Is Iceland Highlands by 4×4 — F-roads and wild hot springs worth it?

The Icelandic Highlands open for only a short summer window and are reachable solely by fording glacial rivers, which makes them a genuine frontier a few hours from Europe. If river crossings unsettle you, this is the wrong trip, and no amount of scenery will change that.
