Who you are dealing with

benned.com is established in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We design and sell generated hardware and have it produced by certified partner factories. Where a product is placed on the market under our name, we are the manufacturer in the sense of EU product legislation: we hold the technical file and sign the declaration of conformity, regardless of where the product was physically built.

Where you supply your own electronics and we supply a housing around them, you are the manufacturer of the finished product and we are your component supplier. The product page says which of the two applies before you order.

The specification is the agreement

Every configuration produces a specification card with its dimensions, mass, material, tolerances, manufacturability findings and price, and a revision hash that identifies that exact geometry. That card is what we undertake to deliver. If what arrives deviates from the published specification outside the stated tolerances, we remake it at our cost.

It follows that the specification is also the limit of what we promise. A dimension you did not state was filled in by the generator and shown to you as an assumption before you ordered; a dimension you stated incorrectly produces a part that is correct against the specification and wrong on your desk. We will regenerate it, at cost.

Cancelling an order, and why made-to-order is different

Under Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to the consumer’s specification or clearly personalised. Almost everything we sell falls in that category, and we would rather state it plainly here than have you discover it after production has started.

In practice we apply it as follows. You may cancel free of charge at any point before the parts that carry your dimensions enter production — for express orders that is typically the same working day, and we will tell you when that moment has passed. After that the order is binding, because the part exists and it fits nobody else.

Products delivered from stock in a standard configuration are not made to your specification, and the ordinary fourteen-day right of withdrawal does apply to those.

Lead times

The working days shown on a product page are our honest estimate of production plus transit, counted from the moment we confirm your configuration. They are not guaranteed delivery dates: customs, weather and freight capacity are outside our control. If an order runs more than five working days beyond the stated estimate, you may cancel it and we refund in full, including any amount already paid.

Prices and payment

Prices shown include Dutch VAT at 21% unless stated otherwise. The price attached to a revision hash is the price we honour for that configuration; changing any parameter produces a new configuration and a new price, which is shown before you commit.

We confirm the configuration, the lane and the final price by email, and take payment only after you have seen all three.

Warranty and conformity

You have the statutory rights to conformity that EU consumer law gives you, with a minimum of two years. Nothing here limits them.

Beyond that: we cover manufacturing defects and any deviation from the published specification. We do not cover wear, damage, modification, or use outside the stated load and temperature ratings — those ratings are printed on the specification card precisely so that both sides know what was agreed.

Liability

We are liable for damage caused by our own failure to deliver what was specified, up to the value of the order. We are not liable for what you build with a part we supplied, or for the conformity of a finished product whose electronics are yours. Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Disputes

Dutch law applies and the courts of Amsterdam have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in. Write to us first: almost everything is faster to fix than to argue about.
