BND-012Worth a year

Is Freediving course in Dahab worth it?

Yes — if you're drawn to the mental side as much as the water. A Dahab freediving course teaches breath, equalisation and the quiet undoing of panic, and the transformation is inward as much as physical. If you simply want to potter about the reef, this discipline will feel more demanding than fun.

€€ · Year-round; best March–May, September–November · 3–5 days

Worth it if

  • You want a meditative, breath-based discipline
  • You're comfortable being underwater on one breath
  • The Red Sea and self-mastery appeal

Skip it if

  • You panic or tense up underwater
  • You want relaxed splashing, not training
  • You are under sixteen

The catch

Progress is as much about calming the mind as holding your breath, and it can feel confronting before it feels serene. Safety protocols are non-negotiable; never freedive outside a supervised course.
